Random but on pick’em topic: Southern Magazine picked Pierces BBQ as the best in VA and Tim Kaine concurs. I am a confirmed Grandmaster BBQ judge and Pierces is average, at best.

Three Pick ‘em winners each received +1 rep. Spend it wisely.

Please take a moment to recognize their brilliance and +1 them.

I’m not a confirmed grandmaster bbq judge, but I am a self proclaimed bbq snob.

I think average is incredibly generous.

This is a rant I go on probably far too regularly. They make really solid pulled pork having one of the few pits in VA. But what they do to it when it comes out is an abomination.

It would be much better with a different sauce.

I remember standings outside waiting to get served. Back then it was very good!! Now, since Dad passed, not so good. I will say they have awsome hamburgers, it you want to wait for them. Right now, I prefer Two Drummers Bar-b-Que !!!

RE: Official D-Day Pick'em Thread
So what’s the take on acceptable hiring timeframes here?

Different situation, but ODU announced Jones’ (relatively anticipated) retirement on Feb 26 and announced the new hire on March 1.

Dane was announced on April 2. I’d be pretty disappointed if we go another 3 weeks before news.

I'd say the first couple weeks in April is typical for W&M. Who's to say if it's too slow? I'm impatient too, but I don't care how long Mann takes if he hires the right coach. Getting it right is all that matters.

I expect 2-3 weeks to be about right, as well.

The more I think about it and see how the last couple of games played out, I think a) Dane knew he was getting fired, and b) that Mann made his decision a while ago.

Maybe it’s just the anxious fan in me, but it feels like the longer it drags, the less likely we are to get the right coach. With vacancies coming up daily, it seems like the quicker the better.
