"Holtmann had four years remaining on his contract, which ran through the 2027-28 season, and will receive a buyout of $12.8 million, the school said in a release."

Might this also be a cautionary tale about finding a D3 coach who might be over his head at the D1 level? Not that it can't work out, but more that it isn't as simple as "find a good D3 coach and hire him".

“Ohio State firing Chris Holtmann yesterday was a wake-up call for admins across the country.

The transfer portal has expedited search timelines. You need a coach (or a handshake agreement with one) by March 18 or you're already behind.”

Umm, guarenteed Mann has barely even thought about who a good replacement would be. In fact, I'm thinking he's hoping that Dane surges at tournament time and is showing growth to justify keeping him around. Rest assured we will be behind in any replacement process.

I freely admit that we would be less desirable in the process because we don't have the resources to commit that some others do. What I don't get is the administration not being proactive in the process. The price is making some phone calls. Maybe I'm completely wrong about Mann. But, my guess is he hasn't even began a preliminary candidate search. If that is the case, he's late to the game.

Will someone please print off this tweet and mail it to Brian Mann? We're only hurting ourselves letting Dane continue to coach.

Holtmann requested to be fired so he could take the WM job, OSU just has to pay the difference between the 4 million/yr he was guaranteed and the 200k we can pay him.

OSU cleared him out obviously anticipating Dane will be available soon, it's weird though I'm not seeing Dane on any of the short lists for the position.
