At times like this, it helps to have a HC that is the caliber of person which Coach London appears to be.

RE: Nate Evans
Reminder to be at Zable by 7pm tomorrow if you can make it. Sadly, I have to work until at least 5:00 so there's no way for me to get there in time.
My hunch is that those in attendance will be supremely impressed by the turnout. I hope this time is spent thinking about and honoring Nate and doesn't turn into an anti-gun or political march. There is a time an place to voice concerns but a memorial isn't an appropriate place for that.

Nate was funny, smart & a terror on the field while at LDHS. So sad for his friends and family.

I have no doubt there will be comments that are anti-gun and I honestly will not be upset with anyone who may bring it up. It was a person holding a gun that killed the man. There are reasonable people on both sides of the RTBA/2nd amendment issue and it does nothing to take away from the honoring of Nate for someone to loathe publicly the method by which he died. That doesn’t mean they are using the situation. It means, in their mind, the gun is at least partly to blame and it actually makes sense for It to be Brought up. I don’t have to agree or disagree with anyone’s take to understand why it probably will be discussed.

FROM THE GREAT PEOPLE COMFORTING THE EVANS FAMILY:
Hello Tribe Family,
The memorial this evening will now take place at 7:00pm tonight in Kaplan Arena. Brandi and family will be arriving around 6:45pm. Doors will open to the public at 6:00pm. At the conclusion of the event, if appropriate and desired, immediate members of the football community will be welcomed to gather at the Laycock Center and spend time in Zable stadium.
Please wear your game day attire! Parking will be in the big lot across the street from our normal tailgating location, outside of Kaplan Arena.
We are currently working on either a go fund me or something similar to help Brandi with expenses.

RE: Nate Evans
Just returned from Nate's memorial service.
First: God bless you Nate,. Thank you for being part of the Tribe Family. Rest in peace.
Second: It was a very, very moving and impactful experience.
Third: This is a hurting community of students, coaches, administration, family, and mother and sister, who deserve all the support that we, as One Tribe One Family, can give at this time.
Anything else we talk about is inconsequential in perspective.
I will share more and my observations later.

Dave Johnson
@DaveJohnsonDP
Covering Nate Evans' memorial service tonight might have been my most difficult assignment in 32 years at the Daily Press. My oldest son is 18, a year younger than Nate. I can't, or don't want to, imagine what Brandi Evans-Fose is going through. ??

Great idea. A day of messageboard silence out of respect for Nate is lovely.

Thank you for posting this. I so much wanted to be there. I had tears reading Dave Johnson's story.

RE: Nate Evans
I would assume that Nate’s number would be retired for the next 2-3 years, is there anything else the team should do to honor him? A picture of him or his number the players should have on their helmet would be a nice idea, imo.
